Con sus 59 hectáreas, Stromovka es el mayor espacio verde del centro de Praga. Esta antigua reserva de caza medieval ha sido modificada varias veces en forma de un magnífico parque inglés.
La historia del parque es antigua y prestigiosa. Durante el período medieval, este espacio servía de reserva de caza real, la cual fue fundada oficialmente en 1268 por el Rey Přemysl Otakar II. La primera mención escrita sobre el actual parque data 1319, cuando Juan de Luxemburgo ordenó la construcción de una plataforma para la organización de ferias.
