On April 22, 1882, it was the scene of the execution of three Sicaíno heroes (Enrique Rosado Zárate, Vicente Samaniego Vivas and Tomás Gutarra) by the Chilean troops stationed in Huancayo.

It is located in the center of the city. It is the oldest in it, since Huancayo was founded as a town in 1572.

It is currently surrounded by public and private institutions such as the Municipality, Telefónica del Perú, the Correo Central, the Transitory Council of Junín Regional Administration, among other institutions.
