Cradle of pre-Hispanic, colonial and republic monuments, Ascope is a relatively new province of La Libertad, it was created by Law No. 23-845 of June 1, 1984. It was elevated to a province after overcoming a number of difficulties for many years until That was finally achieved with the government of the Architect Fernado Belaunde and with the support of Dr. Javier Alva Orlandini.



In Ascope, the Casagrande and Cartavio sugar factories develop their industrial activities, so when visiting these places you can see the extensive sugar cane fields. Apart from working in the sugar factories, the Ascopan population engages in independent agricultural activity, the most widely grown product being sugar cane, corn and beans. This province has a territorial area of ​​2,607.22 km2, with a population of 7,917 inhabitants in 1997.
